The Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ has urged international election observers to be objective and impartial in their assessment of the 2026 General Elections.
Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis says objective and impartial assessment of general elections in any country is key to maintenance of peace and security.
Ms Zaloumis has also observed that election observers are critical stakeholders to the validation of credible general elections as they are key witnesses to the conduct of the election.
She reiterated that the ECZ stands ready to ensure the 2026 General Election are free , fair and credible.
Ms. Zaloumis was speaking in Lusaka today during the meeting with international observers on the ECZ’s Preparedness to hold the 2026 General Elections.
At the same function, ECZ Chief electoral Officer Brown Kasaro said no legal suit has been filed against the outcome of the delimitation report .
Mr. Kasaro has reiterated that the 2026 delimitation has reiterated that the delimitation has resulted in the creation of 70 new constituencies.
He said this during the plenary session .
Meanwhile, ECZ Voter Education Manager Emma Mwiinga said those contesting elective parliamentary seats shall not be eligible to be nominated for proportional representation seats.
