Chaminuka Resort Chief Executive Officer STELIOS SARDANIS has been murdered by unknown assailants in Chisamba District.
Mr. SARDANIS, aged 64, was attacked by unknown assailants at his lodge between 01:00 and 01:15 hours today.
Police Spokesperson GODFREY CHILABI says preliminary investigations indicate that the assailants, who were armed with offensive weapons, forcibly entered Mr. SARDANIS’ residence through the main glass door before breaking into his bedroom.
Mr. CHILABI says the suspects assaulted Mr. SARDANIS and stole a safe containing documents and valuables, as well as an undisclosed amount of money.
He says Mr. SARDANIS was rushed by Chaminuka Resort workers to CFB Medical Centre in Lusaka, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Mr. CHILABI says police have visited and processed the scene of the crime and commenced investigations into the matter.
He says a security guard who was on duty at the lodge at the time of the incident has been detained to assist with investigations.
Mr. CHILABI says the value of the stolen property has not yet been established.
He has appealed to anyone with information that may assist in the investigations to report to the police.
